Melbourne based French Gypsy jazz band Ultrafox make a welcome return to Sutton’s House of Music. Its been over a year since the band has played the venue and are looking forward to playing there once more . The group has maintained a solid performance schedule since its creation some six years ago by guitarist and vocalist Peter Baylor [ Dancehall Racketeers . Mic Conway, The Baylor brothers..} Ultrafox draws its inspiration from the legacy of the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelly and the hot club of france of the 1930’s and 1940’s.
Hot swing jazz , tender ballads, gypsy waltzes and a host of original material make up much of the bands ever expanding repertoire as well as obscure french and American tunes that are often overlooked. The groups sound is defined by the driving , muscular swinging rhythm approach of the gypsy styled guitars laced with fiery solos.
The Band has recently released their third album, “ Nocturnal Blues” and will have copies available on the night.
